Strength and Stability of the Lower Back
Oct 27th
It should be no shock to most people that one cause of back soreness is a general weakness in specific muscles of the abdomen and the back regions. To be able to lift an object and carry it, numerous muscles are utilized to project force, while others are used to support the spine and maintain it in a position of low chance of injury.
If any of the muscles are under-used and weakened, especially the back muscles, instability may result and a buckling of the vertebrae may occur even when picking up light objects. Therefore, it is vital to train all of the relevant muscles of the back to decrease weaknesses causing instability.
In fact, no one particular muscle should generate too much or too little force or stability when supporting the back during a lift. The muscles should create the right balance in order to lift an object without causing disc herniation or spraining connective tissues.
Why Static Stretching May Increase The Chances of Getting Injured
Oct 18th
Many athletes have incorporated stretching as a warm-up practice before they run or engage in a workout routine. In fact, stretching has become almost universal in the realm of exercise – stretch before you work out to warm up, stretch after exercising to cool down, and stretch even more if you are feeling injured or tight in any area.
The generally held ideas about stretching, though, are no more than myths not backed by science, and may actually cause injury. For a number of reasons, it may be better not to stretch before a workout and instead in other movements to warm up. The first reason not to stretch is that the scientific community has found no evidence that it helps prevent tissue damage.
Second, static stretching has been found to damage muscle tissues in athletes who engage in the activity. A final reason to reconsider stretching before exercising is that the activity can raise pain tolerance. This all means that stretching can cause muscle damage itself and then anesthetize the damaged area as the pain tolerance rises.
Layaway Agreements Regaining Popularity, but What Happens if the Plan is Broken?
Oct 13th
A layaway program allows buyers and sellers to come to an agreement to set aside a specific item while the buyers make periodic installment payments. Once the agreed-upon payments have been made in full, the buyers get to take possession of the good, and the seller may not dispose of the good while it is covered under the layaway plan.
Save your home from foreclosure
However, there are a number of issues that buyers should keep in mind prior to creating such an plan with a business to purchase an item on layaway. For instance, what happens to the payments if the buyers change their mind or fail to make the installment payments? Or what if the company goes out of business like Borders did?
In most cases of the buyer defaulting on the payments, the seller has no right to keep all of the money paid up to that point. If the purchase is never completed, the money may not be retained by the seller unless there have been damages as a consequence of the contract being broken. But for most consumer good, this situation must be somewhat rare.
Legal Claims Against a Bank and FDIC Takeovers
Oct 11th
There are two big issues that should be solved when a mortgage company goes out of business and is taken over by the FDIC. The first is whether or not all of the bureaucratic processes of the FDIC must be gone through by the debtors before they can have a court evaluate their claims against the bank. The second is which claims bringing up lender misconduct would even survive the special protections the FDIC has.
In terms of the first concern, statutes dictate the administrative claims procedure that debtors must go through when a bank fails and is taken over by the government. Importantly, the FDIC has the ability to disallow claims made by debtors, but the agency must send out a notice informing them of borrowers’ ability to present their claims within a stipulated period of time (90 days from the date the notice is published). Then the FDIC has another 180 days to decide if it will reject the claim or not.
The second concern involes which claims would survive a bank takeover. The FDIC has numerous protections against claims that may have been made against the original lender, current mortgage holder, and servicing company. Homeowners and their lawyers will have to answer a number of concerns to determine if and what claims would survive.
New York Giants a Surprise Success in Early NFL Season
Oct 6th
Four games into the season, the New York Giants are 3 -1 and tied for the division lead with the Washington Redskins, and the only person not shocked by this is head coach Tom Coughlin. Even though it is no secret that the veteran Coughlin is on probation this season due to the Giants poor performances in the late part of the previous two years, he is remaining extremely positive and optimistic despite his off season losses to free agency and his early season injuries.

Picking it up is precisely what the rest of the Giants have done, pulling out three fourth quarter victories. On Sunday, the G-Men came back from a 10 point deficit in the final quarter, and pulled out a 31-27 victory against Arizona. The difference thus far this season has been a lack of turnovers. Quarterback Eli Manning threw a career high 25 picks last season. Thus far, Manning has only tossed two, a stat that will keep the Giants within striking distance of anyone on their schedule. Despite the loss of his two favorite targets to free agency, Steve Smith and Kevin Boss, Manning has managed to prosper and find some new favorites.
Both Mario Manningham and Victor Cruz have risen to the challenge and indicated big play capabilities in the early part of this season. So how good could the G-Men be this season? Who knows. Things do look bright, though, and when they bring back some of their injured players to the defensive side of the ball, watch out, things could get even harder for opponents.
How People May Have Back Pain Without Serious Tissue Injury
Oct 4th
Chronic back pain can be very hard to live with because, typically, the signs of tissue damage or injury have little or nothing to do with the feelings of discomfort. While one patient may have soreness and a slipped spinal disc, other people have literally no pain caused by a slipped or herniated disc or even more serious damage.
Some patients, however, experience pain while others do not even know that they have any tissue injury at all. Once back pain is felt, it can also be difficult for the patient and doctor to tell where the problem is actually coming from. Too often, the feelings of discomfort are felt in a general area but do not relate well to any specific anatomical structure.
A painful lower back is a real feeling for many people, but the muscles, tendons, discs, and vertebrae of the spine may not indicate any signs of damage or swelling. However, the pain persists. And pain, as it becomes longer lasting over time, can spread from one region of the body to another.
How to Get a Refinance to Stop Foreclosure
Sep 30th
Foreclosure is a costly decision for any mortgage lender. But if they do not get any sign that the borrower wants to work on the problem, they will start taking steps to foreclose on the home. For banks, it all comes down to how they can get back the most money or avoiding losing any.
For the homeowners facing the loss of their house, a foreclosure loan may be what can help them save their homes. The place to begin looking for a foreclosure loan is to ask your most recent mortgage broker for referrals. In the past few years, lenders and brokers have been dealing with millions of foreclosed mortgages.
These banks have often developed working relationships with brokers that excel in finding in foreclosure refinancings. By getting their delinquent borrowers in contact with such a professional, lenders may see the mortgage being paid off through a new loan instead of foreclosure.
Injuries, the Nervous System, and Chronic Pain
Sep 27th
In the short run, inflammation is good for the body after tissue damage has been sustained. The swelling and redness are indications of increased circulation and blood flow to the damaged tissues.
Without this increase in blood flow, it could take much more time to recover from an injury, if total healing would be possible at all. Thus, the body’s inflammation reaction right after tissue damage that occurs over days or weeks is an attempt to protect the body part that has experienced the damage.
Alterations to the nervous system after an injury, though, may be longer lasting, even permanent. In some instances, the body may become more highly sensitive after being injured, as the brain and nerves scan the damaged area for any further signs of danger, even long after the injury has healed.
Spinal Cord Compression a More Serious Injury Than Common Back Pain
Sep 23rd
There are numerous causes of compression to the spinal cord. Adhesions are typically the culprit, although adhesions that occur outside the cord itself are more typical than ones occurring within it.

Force can also cause compressive forces which lead to injury. Tumors and abscesses are another source which may lead to pain progressing over several days or weeks.
A bulging disc can also lead to compression, as can protrusions of bone or cartilage into the spinal canal. Despite the fact that the vast majority of people living in the United States will experience some sort of back pain at one time or another throughout their lives, spinal cord compression is more rare but also much more debilitating.

Who Can Win the 2012 NFL Super Bowl?
Sep 12th
Tonight the NFL football gambling season commences. Let’s take this chance to take a quick look at both the AFC and NFC Divisions to see what prospects may lay ahead in the 2011-2012 season. Let’s begin with the AFC East where the New England Patriots have had a stranglehold for virtually a decade. Last year the New York Jets exploded onto the scene and defeated the Patriots in the playoffs. You have to like the Patriots to find a way to win this division again.
The AFC South has been dominated by the the Indianapolis Colts, but this might be the year where the Houston Texans eventually make their move and take home a division title. In the AFC West the Kansas City Chiefs won the division last year, but most think that if the San Diego Chargers stay healthy they will get it this year. In the AFC North the Pittsburgh Steelers won the division last year and went on to the Super Bowl losing to the Packers 31-25. If they stay healthy they should win the division again, Even though the Baltimore Ravens will give them a run for their money.
In the NFC East the Philadelphia Eagles won the division last year and should do so again. The Giants or Cowboys could make a run, but it is not probable. The NFC West the Seattle Seahawks won the division with a dismal 7-9 record. Don’t expect that again. Look for the Los Angeles Rams to win it with a 9-7 record instead. In the NFC North the Chicago Bears won the division last year, but it was the Wild Card Green Bay Packers that made it all the way to the Super Bowl to win it all. Even though the Detroit Lions are making their move, look for the Packers to win this division again. In the NFC South the Atlanta Falcons won the division last year with the Saints taking the Wild Card. Look for more of the same this year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers making a probable challenge. There will be plenty of good soccer betting this NFL season.
Stopping Foreclosure With a Self-Help Product
Sep 4th
For homeowners who want to try to stop foreclosure on their own, they can do a lot worse than purchasing a product that will guide them through some of the steps in the legal process. Some of these products also provide software to help homeowners evaluate which solutions they may qualify for, as well as form letters that can be customized for a variety of options.
These might include negotiating with the mortgage company, outlining the procedures when applying for a new mortgage, or requesting the foreclosure auction be postponed for a period of time. Borrowers should not expect magic from any service or source of foreclosure help, though, unless they are willing to put in the hard work required to save their properties.
Preventing foreclosure is not simple, it takes patience, and the other parties in the process (banks, lawyers, judges, and so on) may not be exactly receptive. If the foreclosure victims buy the self-help product, and then fail to follow the guides or instructions, there is a strong possibility they will lose the home, regardless of what products they have relied on.
How Eviction Works After a Foreclosure Auction
Aug 26th
Debtors still remaining in the home after the confirmation and redemption period will have an eviction action filed against them by the purchaser. The steps of this process are defined by state law, as with many other parts of the entire foreclosure.
It is important for former owners to look up how their state treats occupants remaining after a foreclosure. Some states use the same procedures that are used to evict tenants from rental homes. Others, though, have special treatment for debtors living in a foreclosed property.
In either case, though, the lender or purchaser at auction must follow the correct procedures to remove the former owners. If the new owner attempts to follow an eviction process that is not allowed for former owners of a foreclosed house, the action may be thrown out of court until the right steps are followed.
Squats, Single Leg Variations, and the Health of Your Lower Back
Aug 17th
Once a constant of nearly every lifter’s workout, squats are coming under fire from different sectors of the fitness and health industries. There has been almost no evidence to indicate squatting — done with correct form — actually hurts one’s back or knees, but single leg exercises are becoming more popular.
In fact, while squats may not directly hurt one’s lumbar spine, it seems that the strength of the low back is the weakest link in the chain when trying to move heavy weights with one’s lower body. Moving to single leg squats or Bulgarian split squats still challenges the legs but takes the lower back out of the movement.
So should you take squats out of your workout program? Maybe, maybe not. But adding in some single leg alternatives can help you keep gaining strength and protect the health of your lower back and spine.
Interleague Play – Cubs vs. Yankees
Aug 15th
MLB interleague play begins this week and will last throughout the league for the next 17 days. This week has two organizations meeting for the second time in their storied histories when the Yankees travel to the Windy City to take on the Cubs at Wrigley Field. The Yankees go into interleague play with the best record in baseball during this period (146-103), and with third baseman Alex Rodriguez pounding out an outstanding 176 RBI in his career in interleague play and closer Mariano Rivera the all-time interleague save leader. Odds makers believe they will blow into the Windy City and be successful in their three game series. The games will be played on Friday and Saturday afternoon and then the finale on Sunday evening.
It has been a somewhat disappointing season thus far for the Cubs. They have a 5 -10 record this month and are currently in fourth place in their division. The Yankees trail the league leading Red Sox in their respective division.
The main criticism of interleague play since it’s inception has been the loss of the DH for the AL, but it doesn’t seem to be an issue for fans. They pack the stadiums at a 12% higher rate over this 17 day period, and let’s face it, that is what really matters. The fans in Chicago want the Yankees to come play at Wrigley, no matter how poorly the Cubs are playing. This is the main attraction regarding this portion of the season. There are some rivalries developing, but the seem more forced than anything. Rivalry or not, fans want to see something different, so they will pack the parks and for the next 17 days, they will make baseball more important than anytime other than September and October.
Carefully Consider Payday Advance Loans if You are in Foreclosure
Aug 14th
Once people take out a payday loan to make the mortgage, they can rapidly fall into a cycle of not having enough money to pay back one or the other, and then not having enough money to pay back either loan.
Wesley Chapel chiropractic clinic
Even if the loan is only a couple hundred dollars, interest charges can be several hundred percent, and the term of the loan is usually very short. Homeowners may not want to put themselves in a position where they only have two weeks to pay back a loan with an annual 800% interest rate.
We have received emails from debtors in exactly this situation, who first took out numerous payday advances in order to pay the mortgage, but ended up having to take out more of them just to pay back the previous loans.
Beginning a New Workout Program the Right Way to Avoid Injury
Aug 13th
One very easy way to get injured while working out, running, or being active is to start with too much activity. If you have not run for a year, do not go for a six-mile jog, and if you have not lifted weights in your entire life, do not start with 225 lbs on the bench press.
While everyone experiences little aches and pains once in a while, many serious injuries can be avoided easily by not doing too much too soon and by easing into a new workout routine. This allows the body’s muscles and tendons to adapt to the new demands placed on them.
Although most people’s first inclination is to jump into a new workout program headlong, easing into it for at least the first week and finding some baselines for one’s current fitness level is universally a better way and can lead to being active and healthy for longer without injury.
Four Ways to End a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy
Aug 11th
There are at least four options to get out of Chapter 13 bankruptcy, many of which can be considered depending on the situation. The first way to stop a Chapter 13 bankruptcy before finishing the three- or five-year repayment plan is referred to as a hardship discharge.
There are certain tests that must be met to quality for a hardship discharge, though. Also, this is not the recommended alternative from the bankruptcy court’s perspective. Instead, the bankruptcy court desires modification of the plan if the filer experiences an economic hardship.
The third alternative to end Chapter 13 bankruptcy is to convert it to a Chapter 7, which will attempt to liquidate nonexempt assets and discharge as many of the debts as are allowed. Fourth, the filer can have their bankruptcy case dismissed in order to get out of the Chapter 13.
Conquering Fear and Anxiety During the Foreclosure Process
Aug 11th
The most common feeling experienced during the process of a foreclosure is anxiety. And usually that anxiety stems from not knowing what to expect. If you fear that you could be evicted from your home onto the street at any time, that is understandably going to create some stress in your life.
Thankfully, the reality is that foreclosure is an orderly procedure. There are always detailed notices and time periods required before a foreclosure auction can take place. And even after the auction, it can usually take weeks or months before you have to leave the property.
Provided you do your homework or consult with an expert in the process, you won’t really have many surprises, and more than likely will have enough time to find other living arrangements.
What Should You Know Before Choosing a Chiropractor?
Aug 8th
When choosing a chiropractor, there are a variety of questions that people should ask potential doctors about their treatment methods and the specific back pain problems the patients are suffering from.
Probably the most important issue is whether or not the doctor has experience treating the same or related issue that the person is experiencing, and how much experience. More relevant experience can be more of a benefit to patients than doctors who have little or no experience treating a specific problem.
Methods used to treat people should also be explained in detail. Whether the chiropractor uses his hands to treat the spine and tissues, and whether he uses deeper techniques or low force methods should be known by the patient before undergoing treatments.
Is the Hardship Letter Necessary for a Loan Modification Application?
Aug 7th
Homeowners in foreclosure who are attempting to negotiate a short sale or loan modification almost always need to include a hardship letter with their application. The lender needs to know why the homeowners fell behind on their monthly bill.
The hardship letter can often make a huge difference in whether a deal is accepted or turned down, and whether a realistic offer is made by the lender. So taking time to explain the hardship carefully is very important for foreclosure victims.
In fact, if the homeowners are really concerned about saving their home, they should take extra time to prepare the hardship letter, spelling out exactly to the bank why they fell behind, how their circumstances have changed for the better, and why they will not fall behind in the future.
To Gain the Most Strength, Recovery Properly and For Long Enough
Aug 6th
One of the most persistent myths in the fitness industry is that athletes gain strength from lifting weights, running, and engaging in fitness programs. But this is totally misguided, as the exercise is only the stimulus to create change and muscle growth.
In fact, it is recovery from lifting weights or running that leads to gains in strength. This view puts a far greater focus on the recovery phase of any program, and recognizes that there can not be positive growth and adaptation without sufficient recovery.

Especially as one gets stronger and in better shape, it may take more time to recover. A new athlete may be able to go hard numerous days in a row, but highly trained runners or weightlifters may need to take several days or even weeks in between truly testing their fitness levels.
What Should You Keep in Mind to Work Out Outside?
Aug 2nd
With how hot and humid it has been this summer, people should keep in mind how important working out, but also that they should take precautions so they do not get sick when playing sports ot running, biking, or walking outside.
Many people already do not drink enough water for peak performance during exercise, but it is also important to replace electrolytes and keep one’s blood sugar at proper enough levels to prevent feeling lightheaded.
This has been a particularly hot summer so far, and we have just gotten into August, typically the hottest month of the year. So for people who exercise outside, be careful and keep in mind that you need to replace lost water, sugar, and salt to prevent heat-related sicknesses.
