2011 R+L Carriers Bowl to Become a Classic
Dec 15th
The Louisiana Superdome will come to life on December 17th when the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl begins. The San Diego State Aztecs take on the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns in a battle for the title. The Aztecs come into the game with an 8-4 record and a 4-3 record in the Mountain West Conference. The Aztecs average 29.8 points per game on offense and 24.4 points per game on defense.
The Aztecs are headed up by senior quarterback Ryan Lindley (2,740 yards – 52.5 completion pct – 20 td’s / 8 int – 122.9 rating). The running game is in stellar hands with star sophomore RB Ronnie Hillman (287 carries – 1,656 yards – 19 td’s). Hillman had a 99-yard touchdown run in a loss against Wyoming on October 29th. Hillman reminds many of former Aztecs phenom and latest NFL Hall Of Famer Marshall Faulk who also ran all over the field against opposing players in the early 1990′s.
The Ragin’ Cajuns defense will have their hands full in trying to slow down Ronnie Hillman on the ground. Both defenses will definitely get a workout in this shootout of two phenomenal squads. The two-way threat of Gautier versus the ground game of Hillman will be a spectacle. Both schools will work to put a lot of points on the board in this matchup.
Who Can Win the 2012 NFL Super Bowl?
Sep 12th
Tonight the NFL football gambling season commences. Let’s take this chance to take a quick look at both the AFC and NFC Divisions to see what prospects may lay ahead in the 2011-2012 season. Let’s begin with the AFC East where the New England Patriots have had a stranglehold for virtually a decade. Last year the New York Jets exploded onto the scene and defeated the Patriots in the playoffs. You have to like the Patriots to find a way to win this division again.
The AFC South has been dominated by the the Indianapolis Colts, but this might be the year where the Houston Texans eventually make their move and take home a division title. In the AFC West the Kansas City Chiefs won the division last year, but most think that if the San Diego Chargers stay healthy they will get it this year. In the AFC North the Pittsburgh Steelers won the division last year and went on to the Super Bowl losing to the Packers 31-25. If they stay healthy they should win the division again, Even though the Baltimore Ravens will give them a run for their money.
In the NFC East the Philadelphia Eagles won the division last year and should do so again. The Giants or Cowboys could make a run, but it is not probable. The NFC West the Seattle Seahawks won the division with a dismal 7-9 record. Don’t expect that again. Look for the Los Angeles Rams to win it with a 9-7 record instead. In the NFC North the Chicago Bears won the division last year, but it was the Wild Card Green Bay Packers that made it all the way to the Super Bowl to win it all. Even though the Detroit Lions are making their move, look for the Packers to win this division again. In the NFC South the Atlanta Falcons won the division last year with the Saints taking the Wild Card. Look for more of the same this year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers making a probable challenge. There will be plenty of good soccer betting this NFL season.

Jun 6th
Despite scoring the Mavericks’ final twelve points of the game, Dirk Nowitzki could not power the Dallas team to a win in Game Two, missing his final shot to tie the game at 88.

OKC Thunder Eliminated, Mavericks Retun to NBA Finals
May 26th
When the NBA Playoffs began, no one expected the Dallas Mavericks to be the final team left standing in the Western Conference.
In fact, many experts thought that the Mavs would have a tough time against the Portland Trailblazers, potentially being upset, while the Lakers would walk back to the Finals and get their three-peat.
But now, Dallas has eliminated their last rival in the West with another fourth-quarter comeback, to win 100-96 over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Chicago Bulls Shoot Terribly, Loses to Miami Heat
May 19th
If the Bulls learned one thing last night, it is that they can not shoot 34% from the field and expect to win games in the conference finals.
The Heat led by as many as 11 points during the game, and it was surprising that they did not lead by more, considering Chicago’s terrible shooting.
The Bulls also got beat on the boards, which is the one statistic they had beaten the Heat on reliably on in the previous four games of the regular season and Game One of the playoffs.
Bulls Defense Shuts Down Miami in Game One
May 16th
There is a reason that the Chicago Bulls are the top-rated defense in the NBA, and their suffocation of the Miami Heat tonight was another example of it.
The Bulls destroyed the Heat, winning 103-82, after going on a tear in the second half of the game, which was incredibly close through the first two quarters.
The Bulls take a decisive 1-0 series lead over the favored Heat, who will have to try to rebound from an offensive nightmare of a game.
Thunder Pound Tired Grizzlies, Heat Eliminate Celtics
May 12th
It took four tries, a couple of moves, and some waiting for some players to age, but LeBron James and crew finally overcame the Boston Celtics in a playoffs series.

The fact that the Grizzlies and Thunder are still battling out west adds to the speculation.
Can the Spurs Make it Through the Playoffs and Win the NBA Championship?
Apr 15th
If the San Antonio Spurs can stay healthy for the playoffs and Tim Duncan comes back strong from his ankle injury at some point, they will be the team to beat in the Western Conference.
They have both the skill and experience to go far in the 2011 playoffs.
But their main weakness is that the leadership of the team is showing their age and they have suffered some worrisome late-season injuries.

While the Miami Heat-Boston Celtics game this weekend was a statement game for Miami, could it really be considered one for Boston?

Celtics Lose Two in a Row at Home

Boston gave up a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter, losing to the Bobcats 83-81, and dropped their second straight home game.
In fact, the team has won only four of their last ten games overall.

Conference Tourney Week in the NCAA – Top Ten Rankings
Mar 8th
Shooting 93% from beyond the arc is going to win a team a lot of games, and while the odds are against the Ohio State Buckeyes keeping up this torrid shooting pace, it sure is fun to watch and speculate about. After Saturday’s thumping of Wisconsin, the Buckeyes are once again the top team in the country, and anyone who watched the game could not possibly question the choice.
The Buckeyes were 14-15 from beyond the arc, and they looked virtually unstoppable with their inside/out attack against the Badgers. With conference tourneys beginning this week, it is almost a certainty that the Buckeyes will be a number one seed on selection Sunday.
Odds for Mavericks-Timberwolves Game Monday Night

Dallas is listed as the 7 point favorites by the sportsbook, and the total is set at 209, with expectations of a high-scoring game.
Look for All-Star Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves to carry his team, as usual. Though the Wolves are 15-49 this season, Love will be looking to tie Moses Malone’s record for 51 consecutive double-doubles. He hit 50 on Saturday in a 103-96 loss in Washington against the Wizards, where he had 20 points and 21 rebounds, his 11th 20-20 game this season and third in a row.

Baylor Looks to Sweep Season Series Against Oklahoma State
Mar 2nd
In a Tuesday night NCAA basketball betting match-up, Baylor takes on Oklahoma State. Baylor is going to do what it has not been able to accomplish since 1922 – sweep the season series. The Baylor Bears are in a position where they need only two more wins to get to 20 total for the fourth season in a row, and they are currently on the bubble when it comes to the NCAA March Madness tournament.
Sports odds are predicting a close game tonight, with Oklahoma State being the slight favorite at -2 points. Oklahoma is also playing an important game here, as they need to make a strong showing in the Big 12 Conference tournament if they are to have much luck in the NCAA postseason. It is unlikely they make the cut for March Madness, however, despite a win on Saturday against Texas Tech.
After Carmelo Anthony Trade, Knicks Still on Hunt for Talent
Feb 25th
A day after their huge deal with the Denver Nuggets, the New York Knicks are continuing to hunt for talent to fill out their depleted reserve situation. While head coach Mike D’Antoni has already penciled in his starting line-up, which includes Stoudemire, Anthony, Billups, Fields, and Turief, team president Donnie Walsh has claimed that the Knicks are not doe and will pursue other players before the Thursday deadline. The depleted bench will consist of Shawne Williams, Toney Douglas, and Corey Brewer, with Shelden Williams likely to be the go to guy to get Stoudemire and Anthony a rest.
With the trade, the Knicks actually add much more experience, including playoff experience, to their starting line-up. Anthony will be replacing Gallanari at the small forward position, and besides his nearly 26 points per game, Carmelo also brings much more game experience, 564 starts to Gallanari’s 124 career starts. The veteran Billups, while maybe not the best fit for the up-tempo Knicks, brings nearly 865 NBA starts, which includes plenty of playoff and NBA Finals experience.
Do Super Bowl Odds Ever Live Up To The Hype?
Jan 20th
Odds to win Super Bowl often have the favorite at an overlay as the nature of the hype surrounding the game has a direct effect on the NFL Super Bowl odds.
Of course the greatest example of hype and price, at least in the modern era of the Super Bowl, comes from Super Bowl XLII in February of 2008 when the New York Giants were 14 point dogs against the undefeated New England Patriots, who were trying to become the first team since the 1972 Miami Dolphins to clinch an undefeated season.
The matchup was a great lesson in Super Bowl hype and how the media and the public can join together to make for unrealistic expectations. By the time the Patriots and Giants took the field on Super Sunday it was considered a sure thing that the Patriots would blow out the Giants for an easy payout and to become immortal as only the second undefeated team in the history of the Super Bowl.
The hype ignored the fact that the Giants had nearly upset the Patriots in a close game just a few weeks before in the regular season, and also ignored the fact that the Giants had one of the better defenses in Super Bowl betting. The Giants ended up winning the game 17-14 for an easy payout in one of the biggest upsets in the history of pro football.
The Giants win over the Patriots offers great lessons for handicappers getting ready to bet on the Super Bowl lines, but the biggest one of all is to keep a level head and not allow yourself to be caught up in media hype and the overlays and poor value that comes along with that hype.
The pundits at ESPN are often wrong, as sharp handicappers quickly discover, and the odds to win Super Bowl board is not based on the true ability of the teams involved but instead is based on public perception, as the line is meant to attract equal amounts of action to both sides of the game. To gain an edge, look opposite of hype.
